These JBL headphones put the Sony WH-1000XM6 to shame in one area and are 34% off now

One of JBL's latest over-ear Bluetooth headphones have just become cheaper than ever. I'm talking about the Live 780NC, which can now be yours for less than $165 in one special color option.

Previously, these headphones could be yours for up to 32% off, which knocked them around $170. Although the difference isn't huge, we're still looking at a surprisingly rare deal.

• If you're looking for an in-ear alternative, the AirPods Pro 3 are 20% off right now.

Right off the bat, I should note that this JBL headset probably won't be the best fit for fans of balanced sound. Out of the box, they give you a slight emphasis on the lower frequencies, giving you thumping and powerful bass.

But if you're a basshead, chances are you'd be pretty happy with how these headphones sound. Beyond the prominent low-end, you also get JBL Spatial Sound that gives you a more immersive listening experience.

As if that's not enough, the headphones feature solid active noise cancellation. They likely won't put models like the Sony WH-1000XM6 to shame, but their ANC still filters out a wide range of unwanted sounds.

But where these headphones really shine is in the battery life department. Even with ANC on, you're looking at up to 50 hours of music on a single charge. That should be more than enough for a week of commuting.

If you disable the active noise cancellation, you get an even more noteworthy total playtime of up to 80 hours. However you look at it, those are some impressive numbers, especially considering that expensive alternatives from Apple and Sony can't rival the JBL Live 780NC's battery life.

Even though the JBL Live 780NC probably aren't the best over-ear headphones, they're definitely among the better sub-$250 models. And now that they're down by 34%, they're even easier to recommend.
