Latest Google Maps update introduces New Events section, elevation data for walking and cycling
A new update for Google Maps today rolled out on iOS, introducing a handful of new features, including a new Events section that shows upcoming events you may be interested in.

New Events are located in tile form at the bottom of the Explore tab and showcase interesting things that are happening in your area.

Another new feature in Google Maps v4.57 is the elevation chart. It can be enabled when walking and cycling and shows your altitude and how much physical effort you're putting into your walk or ride. This data has been available in the web version of Google Maps, but is now neatly implemented into the app itself.

Google Maps was also recently updated with a new "Match" feature that lets you find your "one true love." Now it's not Google's take on Tinder, but rather a feature that lets you find the perfect place to eat out.

You can now tap on the Food & Drink section and Maps will give you suggestions for restaurants in your area, based on your unique preferences.
