Apple is 50 years old, and after a fun night of celebrations around the world, CEO Tim Cook sent out a memo to the company’s employees. In the memo, Cook echoes the ethos of Steve Jobs — which made Apple the titan of industry that it is today — and turns his attention towards the future, where much potential still remains untapped according to him.

Tim Cook echoes Steve Jobs

In the memo, Tim Cook shared with everyone something that Steve Jobs once said. Something that still drives Cook to this day.

The ethos that made Apple what it is

Cook goes on to tell employees that these words and this outlook on life are what made Apple what it is today. The company has had an immeasurable impact on the world and the tech industry as a whole.

He says that if Apple’s workers keep trying to change the world like Jobs did, then “the opportunities ahead of us are among the greatest we have ever seen”.

Here’s to the next fifty years

Cook thanked Apple employees, whether they have been there for years or just joined this very year, and asked them to reflect on how they have helped changed the world for the better.

The letter ended with Tim Cook expressing hope and confidence in the next 50 years of Apple. Whether smartphones even exist by then or not, Apple intends to remain a huge part of the future of consumer technology.

An immensely important milestone

Love it, hate it, or be indifferent to it, Apple is one of the most important companies in the world today. To have hit 50 years of continued growth, to continue influencing multiple industries to this extent, is an almost unthinkable achievement.

No one can really say whether Apple will hit 100 years, but I hope it does. It’d be nice to have a familiar logo to look back on and remember this time. Here’s to the next 50 years.
