X-Men game for iOS gets an update and a hefty discount
Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past is a game that was released in May this year – the same month that the movie X-men: Days of Future Past premiered in. However, it would be wrong to consider it a movie tie-in. Instead of following the movie's story, the game is more interested in borrowing from the comic book's original storyline, and then retelling it in a way that would spin off enough playable levels for the player to explore.
The game is available for iOS and just received an update yesterday, adding two more playable mutants – Storm and Polaris. With that, it has also received a nice discount – from $3.99 down to $0.99.
It is a side-scrolling beat 'em up (or in the case of X-Men – shoot / slash / electrocute 'em up) with platforming elements and feels very reminiscent of the classic games of the genre. There are two control schemes – one offers the well-known virtual joystick, the other one allows you to swipe across the screen in order to control your mutant. The graphic style reminds one of the X-Men comics, the visuals are very eye-pleasing and the animations are smo-o-oth. As far as gameplay goes – if you enjoyed playing Wolverine: Adamantium Rage or X-Men 2: Clone Wars back in the day, this game is right up your alley.
