Which new Android 7.1 Nougat feature you appreciate the most?

Google recently introduced the Android 7.1 Nougat edition that is now shipping only on its own Pixel smartphones, and just outed that 7.1 developer preview images are available for the Pixel C, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P, along with some other gear. The 7.1 update is a pretty big thing, as it brings the most awaited and user-oriented features that Google teased us with during the Nougat announcement back in the spring.

Besides support for circular app icons and app shortcut APIs (icon actions upon long-press), image keyboard support for pasting media directly in chat threads, wallpaper metadata, and improved VR latency, there are some more obscure but important new options like a storage manager intent (apps can take the user directly to a new Settings screen to clear unused files and free up space), or new carrier telephony options.

That is why we wanted to ask you which of the major new features that Android 7.1 Nougat brings to the table is your favorite addition, tell us in the poll below.

I feel you there, app shortcuts are cool though; however this has been available on action launcher 3 for a while but I'm not using them that much.

The VR latency enhancements. Is really funny how you labeled a group of things needed for this enhancement. It's both hardware and software needed. Btw Phonearena and others that have done Pixel reviews and never touched on the VR topic at all. However on all Pixel boxes it's listed right on the box "Daydream VR". But not one reviewer brought up that topic on any of the articles. (Well until now). Instead of listing it as VR latency enhancement. It should be Vulkan graphics APIs which require a certain GPU that will support the software. Also Vulkan is the successor to OpenGL which is upwards of 3 times faster in some areas compared to OpenGL. So it's addressing a lot more than VR latency enhancement.

That's absolutely not true. There was a point where you likely said that about some android version and then 2 years later Apple added features from it and you thought it was great. There's always something to appreciate. I use Windows 10 mobile and I do love it for the start menu which is capable of doing anything from icons, tiles, pictures, etc... And it's my favourite operating system out of all the ones out right now but I can always appreciate a lot of ios/android features. This whole phone wars thing is so silly but companies love it as it creates loyalists who don't think about things logically but with emotion.

Windows 10 Mobile still is missing a number of things, nevermind the app gap.

Completely agree. A lot of things were stripped from 8.1 that are finally coming back. It's still a work in progress so no point for MS to push it yet.

They want you to buy a Pixie, with a G brand, and we know what G stands for.

I would rather see a huge difference in battery life rather than those useless features.

Most of the things Nougat added Nova Launcher already does better. Thus the new telephony features are probably the only so-called "excitement" to be had for the average Marshmallow user. How about next time maximizing efficiency for longer battery life.

Double tapping recent apps button to switch to previous app is quite handy. Long overdue imo. And lol at circular icons as a feature and better yet peeps voting for it? Lol.
