The Google Play Store provides a welcome supply of custom launchers for smartphone and tablet users to try out. Action Launcher 3 by developer Chris Lacy is held dear to many users for its wealth of customization options. Not only that, but Lacy keeps Action Launcher 3 fresh and exciting with regular updates. Three weeks ago, he brought a slew of features to the fold, including Nexus Launcher integration. Now, he's also added myriad features of Google's Android 7.1 Nougat, including the firmware's new "Quickcuts" launcher shortcuts, rounded icons and more.
It's strongly suspected that Google will take the wraps off Android 7.1 at next week's event in San Francisco. We've had a teaser of the updated flavor of Android through numerous leaks and if you don't want to wait for the official roll-out, Action Launcher 3 adds some of its functionality to whichever version of Android you already have running.
You can try out the new Quickcuts, which let you access an app's key functions right from its icon. Also in the offing is support for Pixel Launcher's All Apps drawer, accessible through a simple upward swipe at the dock.
Below is a video which teases the major new features and if you like what you see, hit the download link above.

So every launcher from Nova, to Action, to Go are all copying Google's Pixel launcher? Hmm.

I don't see anything wrong with this. 3rd party launchers often improve on Google's implementation of the launcher and I use Nova on my Nexus 6P, for icon support, custom gestures amongst other flexible options that Google launcher DOESN'T provide such as screen transition animations and speeds.

Not Microsoft Arrow Launcher though... Microsoft has its very own 'concept' about Launchers which is vastly different than these 'knock-offs' you've mentioned.... G'Day!

Knock offs? I think you people are losing the point of these launchers which is customization. They give you all the options so you can mix and match your style. They literally claim to do just that, nothing super original or anything.

A knockoff is what it is, a knockoff, dear boy... Look at Smart Launcher or Arrow Launcher... They might not offer a TON of customization of these cheap knockoffs, but they're original and something different... The other day, I was using my Nexus with The Arrow Launcher on a bus and the man sitting beside me asked me about the 'theme' I was using...! And guess what, he actually INSTALLED it on his Samsung and was very surprised and pleased with the double tap to sleep and quick toggle shortcuts from the bottom and the alphabetically arranged app drawer and tight integration with OneNote and Office... He couldn't believe that it was ABSOLUTELY FREE... Happy customer, I'll tell you... Who wanted his phone to JUST "work", plain and simple and Microsoft delivered... He said he won't be using TouchWiz default launcher for a LONG time, so go figure... G'Day!

Still messy. My idea is touch and hold or force touch to show a subfolder of associated apps that you have chosen. So force touch the camera app icon and you get a folder with all your photo editing apps. Or OneNote, Excel etc and you get your your Docs you've pinned to the launcher. Your Primary chat app and then all the others behind it. This condenses everything to 1 primary screen for very quick & "logical" access.

Don't know about Action Launcher but you can do this in Nova. Create a folder, tap-and-hold, select Edit, toggle 'Swipe to open folder' then change the 'Tap Action' to which ever application you want. So for your example, create a folder of photo apps, then set the camera app as the tap action.
