Verizon's Android 5.1 Lollipop OTA for the Motorola DROID Turbo begins this Wednesday
It's been a pretty exciting week so far for those who've waited patiently for Android Lollipop 5.1 to manifest itself. Owners of the Motrola DROID Turbo perhaps deserve it more than most, since the device hasn't seen a meaningful update since Android 4.4.4. Leaping straight past Android 5.0.x, we heard a couple of days back that the DROID Turbo's Android 5.1 soak testing phase had begun, which was in line with Motorola's previous assertion that the update wasn't too far away. With the changelog now at large, Verizon has confirmed that it will begin rolling out on Wednesday, July 1st.

According to a tweet by a member of Verizon's PR team, the update will commence from tomorrow, and will be part of a phased roll-out that will likely run for many weeks to come:

As you can see, the download and connect-to-computer option will also be available for those wanting to update their Droid Turbo to Android 5.1 Lollipop, but over-the-air is considerably less hassle.

Features will include lock screen notifications, battery tweaks and myriad other adjustments. Visually, the update will carry Google's all-new Material Design for Android Lollipop, and with Verizon having confirmed, the update for the DROID Turbo is now just one day away.
