Until September 30th, Verizon will give a gift card to certain customers who purchase a new smartphone while trading-in the old model. Before you jump out of your chair and race over to your local Verizon store, the offer is open only to those who qualify. New Verizon customers purchasing a smartphone who will receive a gift card valued at least at $100 with the trade-in. Existing customers upgrading from a featurephone to a smartphone will receive a $100 gift card, a promotion that has been going on for a month, as we earlier  reported. Those who add a new line of service with a smartphone will get a gift card valued at $100 or more. This has been a promotion that has been going on for about a month as we reported.

Big Red is also offering some special deals on both new and certified pre-owned smartphones for the Labor Day holiday. A new LG Cosmos Touch and the LG Cosmos 2 are both free with a signed 2-year contract, as is the BlackBerry Curve 3G. Buy one Motorola DROID 2 Global in white and you can receive a second unit for free. For those who like Windows Phone 7, the HTC Trophy is on sale for $49.99 with a 2 year contract while for $100 more, you can pick up a certified pre-owned HTC ThunderBolt.
