Verizon deploys mobile cell equipment and voids charges for wildfire-affected areas in Tennessee
Approximately 17,000 acres of land were scorched by the Chimeny Top 2 wildfire this week. The rain on Thursday provided some much-needed help for the local firefighters, but the threat is still present and rebuilding after such an event will take a lot of hard work.

In an effort to help the local communities, Verizon made a press release, stating that the company will handle all charges for calls, messages and mobile data of its customers in the area for the period between November 28 and December 3. The zip codes of the “qualifying areas” are:

  • Gatlinburg 37738
  • Kodak 37764
  • Sevierville 37862, 37876
  • Pigeon Forge 37863, 37868
  • Semour 37865

Additionally, Verizon will be deploying mobile cellular equipment to increase network coverage and help residents of the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge communities communicate more effectively with the authorities and among themselves.

The PhoneArena team extends its condolences to the people of Tennessee and wishes the local communities a speedy recovery.
