The Microsoft Lumia 940 could sport a 5.2-inch screen

The Microsoft Lumia 940 could sport a 5.2-inch screen
While Microsoft already released several own-branded Lumia smartphones (like the 640 and the 540), it has yet to introduce a high-end model. However, this should finally happen sometime later this year, when, according to rumors, Microsoft will launch not one, but two high-end handsets, which could be called Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL.

Not long ago, we heard that the Lumia 940 would sport a 5-inch display, while the 940 XL would have a 5.7-inch one. However, Nokia Power User now reports that the 940 will actually be a bit bigger, offering a 5.2-inch screen (of unknown resolution, probably 1080p). Both new Lumias may also feature 24 MP or 25 MP PureView rear cameras, 5 MP front-facing cameras, native stylus pen support, iris scanner, and some type of 3D interaction (keep in mind that for now we can't confirm any of these details).

The Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL (or whatever they end up being called) could be officially announced as early as June, at the same time with the launch of Windows 10, which is currently available only as a Technical Preview.

At the moment, there are no images to show the Lumia 940 and Lumia 940 XL, so we've no idea what they're going to look like. What do you think, will they be much different from the previous Lumia flagships, design-wise?

If it's not bulky like all lumias, 940 could be my 1st windows phone in 8 years since my old Samsung i900 Omnia (Windows Mobile)

Id rather take 8-9mm phone with big battery and a non protuding camera cuz my S6 is killing me with that bulge which makes me worried about lens all the time and glass back is a bit slippery wish it was 2mm thicker and had 40000mAh battery with a non protuding camera

I have a S5 and i'm not worried about protruding cameras as long as they are small on the back of phones, not big like lumias. Stop being worried about yours if you are not a kid, i've never scratched any camera glass from my phones and i got many in 16 years. You could still sell your S6 while it's hot and get a 2mm thicker phone with a bigger battery if that's a big problem for you.

there is no worthy phone in the market other than S6, except note 4. I will suggest to keep it. By the way I am also waiting to see what Lumia 940 with windows 10 will offer.

Lumia 930 don't have any bump at the back the galaxy S series are the one with have it 930 is completely flat on the back with it's camera a bit inside even, so no worrying for scratching the lens.

The lens is never the issue. The problem I've always had with protruding cameras is that the rim around the lens gets scuffed, especially at the point where it rests on a surface. It makes the phone look terrible. It's a stupid problem that, as TheBiz says, could be fixed if they just made the phone a tad thicker.

yes, he does mean that he is not using a case. Not all people like to put cases on the phone. I dont like hidding my phone in the case and I got a small dent on the edge of the note 4. Now I have vivo Xplay 3s and I dont want to hide the beauty of this phone.

Actually i dont. Starting with the 8x, the 920, 1020, 930, and now 1520 for me, have never had a case on them. Except the 1020 with the camera grip at times. I have kids, they have dropped it a few times on each phone. They all still work like champs to this day. Heck my 1020 just last week got kicked across the tile floor by a 3yr old on accident. I didnt even look at it, just picked it up adn put it in the pocket. I guess i just dont drop them like others do. To date i have broken one phone screen, years year years ago doing commercial AC work.

I need Microsoft to stop playing and show us the next beast. Hopefully they reveal something next week at BUILD. Otherwise the iPhone 6 will be my next phone this year.

Iphone is extremely boring =\ my 6+ is sitting on my computer desk next to my 1520 (waiting for the next wp10 preview).

The OS is boring compared to Android and Windows Phone but their apps are the most stable and they have the best camera apps and software. Plus with iOS you don't have to be stuck waiting on updates from the OEM(not to mention the OEMs don't even have to include all the new features available in updates like the Camera2 API)and the carrier. I love the customization and features(USB OTG is great) of Android but the photography apps don't compare in terms of function to iOS or Windows Phone. And Windows Phone is missing a few cool apps I've been using on Android. I would give up all the customization and apps of Android for a flagship WP that's not an ATT or Verizon exclusive and a truly polished Windows 10 experience. Otherwise the IPhone is the less exciting but highly reliable choice for me.

Unlocked 1520 has been so much fun last few days. No worry about it when it cost $250. I didnt even need it but that price was just too hard to beat. Green 1520 ftw. Yes win10 is very fun build, though still suffering from a few glitches on every day apps i use.

Yeah I've been using it on my old Lumia 920 since it's not my daily driver. It's got a ways to go though. I miss a lot of things from WP 8.1 though.

In summer, just wait a little........

Higher resolution sensor doesn't make a camera better. All you do is maximise processor load, shot-to-shot times and motion blur. It's all in the sensor quality, subpixel size and optics. Quality over quantity, as they say.

which the 1020 had ALL of those in one package. Except for the cpu, that hurt.

Good luck waiting for a Nokia phone cause you need to wait for like early 2017 and Lumia 1020 successor will most likely come this year and plus 1020 still have the best camera around, it gets the most natural pictures i ever see form a phone's camera Samsung's camera photos looks almost digital.
