The Lenovo ZUK Edge will be a slim bezels competitor to the Xiaomi Mi Mix

Lenovo sub-brand ZUK appears to be at work on a new smartphone, the ZUK Edge. By the looks of it, the handset features minimal bezels around its display, which makes it seem as a competitor to the recently launched Xiaomi Mi Mix, a smartphone notable for its almost all-screen front side.

However, the ZUK Edge does have a traditional top and bottom bezel configuration, while Xiaomi's phone has gotten rid of the top bezel completely. Still, ZUK has clearly been at work minimizing the bezels, as they are considerably smaller than those of other contemporary smartphones.

Specs-wise, the ZUK Edge is configured like a flagship smartphone with a 5.5-inch 1080p resolution screen and a Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB of RAM powering it. There are 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage as well.

The ZUK Edge is probably headed to launch in a few weeks, given that it's listed at TENAA, China's FCC equivalent. Photos of the retail packaging have also leaked, suggesting the smartphone is very much ready to go. Like the Xiaomi Mi Mix, it's probably going to be a China-only affair, though. But there's always the option of importing, if limited 4G coverage and some user experience odds are something you can stomach. Also, some ZUK smartphones like the ZUK Z1 are available in other parts of the globe as well, so there's still a chance the ZUK Edge will make a broader appearance.
