Steve Ballmer stars in Windows Phone 8 ad; second ad says Windows Phone 8 is for everyone
You might remember a few years ago when Sprint CEO Dan Hesse starred in some commercials for Sprint. Now it is Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer's turn to go Hollywood. Actually, the Microsoft executive is seen only in some pictures on some live tiles pinned to his Windows Phone 8 start page. The gist of the ad is that there are a lot of people in Ballmer's life, some giving him advice, and they can be easily reached using the social networking sites that can be pinned to the Windows Phone 8 home page via live tiles. That is the cue for the live tile with Bill Gates to flip revealing the message "Consider purple type cover for Surface." Other cameos (albeit in still photographs) come from Ballmer's wife and kids.

A second ad released by Microsoft explains how the company built the smartphone for the movielover, the single dad, the music mentor, the foodlover, the socializer, working mom, tomboy and the playmaker to name just a few.  We have to say that the screen looks very sharp and colorful on both ads. It surely has something to do with that amazing pixel density on the high end Windows Phone 8 models like the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X.

While the new Windows 8 models look great on television, is there that one killer app on the platform that will have smartphone owners dumping their Android handset or Apple iPhone for one of the new Windows Phone 8 models?
