Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will ship next month in the US
Earlier this week, we told you that Sony’s Xperia Z3 Compact had officially arrived in the US - although Sony hadn’t provided a shipping date for it. Now, however, we know when the handset should arrive at the doorsteps of customers who order it. According to Sony, the estimated ship date is November 3 - probably a bit later than you’d expect. This means that you’ll be able to get an Xperia Z3 before a Z3 Compact in the US, since the larger Z3 will be available at T-Mobile starting October 29.

Of course, you may not want a Z3, because the Z3 Compact is smaller, and yet still powerful, while offering longer battery life (not that the Z3 isn’t a battery champ in its own category).

Sony is selling the Z3 Compact for $529.99, and you can choose to get it in four different colors: white, black, green, and orange. The handset is unlocked, and can be used on AT&T and T-Mobile. It won’t work on Verizon and Sprint, because it’s a GSM / HSPA / LTE device. You can find out much more about the new smartphone by reading our Xperia Z3 Compact review here.

It's good business to buy a Sony phone from Sony. Third party sellers are often a source of problems:http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Expansys_USA

That's what I thought too. I pre-ordered mine on October 20th and I am still waiting for it. It hasn't even shipped. What's worse is that my order keeps changing status: sometimes the phone is listed as backordered, sometimes it's being prepared for shipping, to revert back to backordered a few hours later. I called Sony customer service and every time they tell me a different thing - according to 4 different agents my phone 'has already been shipped','will be shipped on Nov 5th', 'will be shipped whenever in stock' (whenever that may be), 'will be shipped Nov 18'...I think this is the first and last product I buy directly from Sony (although it is my 3rd Sony phone and I own several Sony products). I can't even change my shipping method to a faster one. I am about to cancel my order and get mine from an already available e-store that will deliver it in 2 days, with free shipping, for the exact same price as the one listed for the students.

This will likely be my next phone. At $477 with the 10% discount, the price is reasonable. The phone is not a whale, but it is still water resistant ;-). And the battery life is great. It's not a perfect phone, but it a very nice balance of form, function, and price. Unlock/root is available, albeit resulting in some camera quality loss. Hopefully Sony stops being dumb and punishing the power users and developers who love their phones.

Flash Cyanogenmod and you have a near-perfect device...

That is true. If hardware vendors were more savvy, they would support CM and AOSP from the get go. Give people a choice and make it easy.

Haven't had a chance to investigate it yet, but my Z3 compact heats up when using the camera. The camera app automatically closes, sometimes showing the message that it will shut down when heated. Just thought I drop a note here..

That is known when you shoot video at 4k resolution. 4k is overkill anyway, so stick to 1080p and you should get excellent video without any problems.
