Sony Xperia Z2 to be released by Verizon in the third quarter?

18comments

We’ve been hearing about a possible Sony Xperia Z2 for Verizon since March, and, although Sony denied its existence, a Verizon-friendly Z2 might finally be released in the third quarter of the year.

According to @evleaks, Verizon’s Xperia Z2 supports LTE-Advanced, and needs to pass through “the certification and testing processes” before being ready to hit shelves. Reportedly, the handset should arrive in the middle of next quarter (August?) as the Sony Sirius Viv (model number D6503). Mind you, “Sirius Viv” may be just a codename.

Back in May, Sony itself posted a photo of a Verizon-branded Xperia Z2, only to delete it shortly after that. The photo can be seen above anyway - showing a Z2 that doesn’t seem to be different from the version that’s already available to purchase outside the US.

It’s said that Verizon is also getting ready to launch the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet. It might want to announce both the Z2 smartphone and the Z2 Tablet at the same time - but we’ll see about that. Meanwhile, you can find out more about the two devices by reading our Sony Xperia Z2 review here, and our Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet review here.
