Samsung teases Galaxy Note 8 camera and S-Pen features in two new videos

Before Samsung reveals its next big thing, the South Korean company offers us a sneak peek at what to expect from the Galaxy Note 8. Two new video teaser hint to some of the features that Samsung believes are worth marketing before the phablet goes official.

The first video teases the optical zoom feature of the Galaxy Note 8's camera, as well as the bokeh effect that users will be able to get while capturing shots. This comes in line with previous reports suggesting Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will feature 2x optical zoom or 3x zoom.

Of course, one of the components that sets the Galaxy Note series apart from other phablets is the controversial S-Pen. Even if you're not using it as often as the South Korean company wants you to, Sammy released a video teasing the almighty S-Pen.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is likely to allow users to share their drawings made with the S-Pen with just a tap. More advanced S-Pen features are expected to be announced on August 23 as well, but for now, this is all we got.

It's 2x zoom same as iPhone 7 plus telephoto nothing new. The question is note 8 going to get Android O after all these hype or android O comes to note 8 after galaxy s8 release?!.

Let see. My bad galaxy S9 release, I think LG going to release V30 or V30 plus (might be for Korean market only same as G6 plus) with Android O since they're going to build pixel 2 xl.

The people that keep saying 2x zoom isn't optical or lossless, and the people saying the 2nd camera is a gimmick, clearly have little camera knowledge and have never used a real camera. How does a camera zoom in? By changing the focal length, go pick a camera up and learn. Why would you want to do that? Because you can't always stand next to what you're photographing, you want it to appear as though you are closer than you are without loss of detail. How is it lossless zoom? By using 2 individual cameras at different focal lengths. You can't change the camera lens so you have 2 cameras with different lenses. From my point of view dual cameras is the biggest improvement in smartphone photography in years.

It's not zoom. It's two different cameras.

I guess the user interface will allow you to zoom so you'd get a blend of optical and digital zoom from 1x to 3x. They could just have a toggle from 1x to 2x but that'd be a bit rubbish.

3x zoom with the dual cameras is the truth.. retains a ton of detail zoomed in when recording 4K

Zoom is 2x

25. mikehunta727 unregistered

In the article it says 2x optical zoom or 3x zoom, 3x zoom is with the digital zoom also on top of the optical zoom, I think

Yep, and the telephoto lens probably is higher MP So they can digitally zoom in "losslessly" to 3x zoom Like with the OP5

But but but optical zoom is a gimmick. Lmao.

It's x2 , and yes, it's close to gimmick. If Samsung didn't add some new feature to the dual camera, means that Samsung did it just to hunt for iboys.

26. mikehunta727 unregistered

It's not a gimmick at all, it's the next logical step in improving smartphone photography, you can only do so much with a small sensor on a smartphone, pushing the laws of nature and physics, so why not add another camera. It works really well with video recording especially. Samsung is suppose to have OIS in both modules so that's very nice and bodes well for the 2nd camera already

So say lossless zoom...saying it has 2x or 3x optical zoom is a misinterpretation and it's misleading.

OIS is a HUGE deal for telephoto lens Since the zooming essentially magnifies any shaking As well as the usual allow longer exposures, which is great as lens with longer focal length usually have smaller sizes or worse apertures
