Samsung reminds us that the Galaxy S5 is water-resistant, builds a snowman with some S5s inside
Released by Samsung in the first quarter of the year, the Galaxy S5 is the company’s first flagship handset that features a water-resistant body. To remind us of that, but also to celebrate Christmas and the winter season, Samsung recently built an unusual snowman.

While at first glance it may look like a regular snowman, Samsung’s creation has a beating heart, and moving eyes - all thanks to three Galaxy S5 handsets that were carefully placed inside of it. You can actually check out how the S5-based snowman was made in the video embedded below.

Needless to say, right now the Galaxy S5 is not as attractive as it was in the first half of the year, because, in the meantime, many new and awesome smartphones have been released. What’s more, a Galaxy S6 is likely around the corner, reportedly coming soon with a brand new design that could make the S5 completely forgettable. Still, if you want to check out more about the Galaxy S5, make sure to read our review of it here.

It'll be the same old crap they've been making with protruding camera and speaker on the back. Samsung engineers are a bunch of idiots.

What's cool about the S5? I love Amoled display but its camera protrudes cause wobbling is not cool at all.

The S5 is in the shadow of the Note 4.

Can't wait for the S6, S5 was ok phone but seriously, front looks so bland, sides look like 50s bar stool (not joking) And back is from 2012 $200 tablet. Samsung is definitely heading to right direction with Note 4 and Alpha.

Would have been better with note 4s

You're an idiot. Why would Samsung use a Note 4 in an advertisement that showcases a feature that it doesn't have? Think before you speak.

Samsung as been caught so many times doing this that it is not really news any more and they have become just as synonymous as Microsoft with the term "astroturfing."

I am using a Galaxy S5. It works perfectly. I have used Sony Z2 before but it was a bit disappointing.

I'm like you, but I have used S5 before but it was a bit disappointing Because Z2 has good battery life + 3RAM + good iso

Yes Sammy has to remind us that not so long ago, there was a sgs5. A phone people doesn't want to buy.

A phone that people doesn't want to buy? Lol Just because it didn't meet Samsung's expectations, that doesn't mean no one wants to buy it. As i recall, it did end up selling more than the S4, and it did end up selling more than ALL other Android flagships combined.

I wonder why the S5 did as poorly as it did.

Who knows? Actually, we don't know how well or poorly it did. I've got a buddy at work with two (one for him, one for his wife), and he's very happy with it. He had a Note 2 before and she had an S3. I can tell you why I had no real interest in it - my S3 was still running amazingly, it had Kitkat on it already and I wanted to see what the Note 4 had to offer before I made any decisions.

My sister, and brother in law have them, and absolutely love em. I don't really get into them as much, I prefer the Note to em. I think the Note could be cannibalizing the s5 sales.

I had it, and it really was a pretty good phone. My biggest gripes were that it still felt cheap and it was a little awkward to hold compared to the S4. I think the reason it did poorly was the perception that it was just another incremental update, even though the difference between it and the S4 was greater than that of the S4 over the S3.

I agree with that. While both the S5 and S4 had plastic trims, the execution on the S4 was much better than the chrome plated S5 which really gave thr impression that it is cheap. That's why i appreciate my Note 4 much more than my previous Galaxy phones. As for the sales, i believe that from last and on, no Android OEM will ever reach a new records in sales, they reached the maximum limits, and that is simply because the market is saturated and the majority of people out their have a great speced phone. The only one that will keep on breaking previous records is Apple, they played it smart and they didn't throw all their apples in one basket. Each year they ll have something that can wow their crowds.

The Note 4 is DEFINITELY not helping S5 sales, nor is the Alpha. They are playing a completely different sport, build-wise, so the S5 is not in that league. I didn't need the S-Pen on the Note 4, and it really felt as if the screen was a negative (Performance and battery, although I wish I could have gotten an Exynos 4 for a reasonable price to try out), even though it was gorgeous, so I got rid of it. Had the Alpha had a 5-5.2" screen, I might have gotten it, although it should have had the SD805, as well. I feel like Samsung's misses in 2014 have been errors of timing or misses by inches in the flagship realm, so they can right the ship. I think you are right, though, and they may never recapture that S2/S3/Note 2 magic simply because of the diversity in the market. They can still be pretty profitable, especially if they can weather the storm from China and wait for those guys to price themselves out of existence.

They managed to do this while closing their flagship London store because their sales are sucking. That's multitasking. I'm guessing Tim Cook isn't getting a Christmas card from Samsung this year.

Looks like no one's buying S5. Sammy found a nice way to use the left over stock :P

I tried the iPhone 6 and the Droid Turbo. The S5 beats them both in everyday use.

Instead of building snowmen, they may better allocate their time engineering better mid-range devices. Just my two cents...
