Samsung developed a futuristic transparent "smartphone", too bad you can't get it

Samsung is surely among the biggest spenders when it comes to marketing and self-promotion (take the #GALAXY11 campaign for example). It looks like we'll be treated to yet another round of extensive campaigning from Samsung, which has obviously teamed up with the producers of the upcoming Marvel movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron.

When the latter lands in the theaters, expect an ample amount of Samsung-made gadgets to appear alongside the whole galaxy of Hollywood hotshots, such as Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Idris Elba, and Scarlett Johansson, of course.

One of the gadgets that will make the rounds in the upcoming blockbuster will be an ultra-thin, see-through "smartphone" that will be used by Robert Downey Jr.'s character, Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Samsung claims that this "Starkphone" has been inspired by the Galaxy Note Edge, one of the company's more intriguing devices of late, and got displayed at CES 2015.

Of course, this is not a functioning phone (a glass prop, actually), as the current level of technology has not yet lived up to what Tony Stark will sport in the movie. Bummer.

Apart from the smartphone that Iron Man will use, several other more "mundane" Samsung devices will be also making the rounds in Marvel's upcoming title.

In particular, the rest of the Avengers will be donning Sammy-made smartwatches and Bluetooth headsets. Let's hope that these will aid them in their battle against Ultron and his villainous ploys.

Sorry but this looks awful. Maybe in the movie this will look awesome as Robert will use this. Its like whatever he touches becomes awesome.

That's why he gets paid the really big bucks and the other actors not so much (Avengers he made well over 50 mill, the others between 2 and 6). Still weird that a tech inventor with his own tech company would use a phone from another company. That's product/brand placing for ya.

Hell, it's better than the stupid Oracle servers in the background in iron man 3. Oracle sucks balls, he'd never use them. Still, I agree with ya.

I don't mind product placing at all, they all do it. But it has to be in good taste. For instance, if I see a movie about a family with very low income and their son has the lastest iMac in his room, I know this to be bulls**t. Also it's funny, was watching Grimm the other day and their show is full of Apple products, but their Mac was running Windows lol. Same for things like Oracle servers and Samsung stuff being used by Tony Stark :) Reminds me of this artisthttps://www.behance.net/gallery/7322335/Sponsored-Heroes (especially Galactus & Silver surfer are funny)

He got paid 50min and others not even 25% of what he got. Dyum, that's too much.

The problem is.. he does play Tony Stark very well. I can't imagine anyone else doing that role. While I do like the others in their roles, they are a bit more generic and interchangable.

"Steve once had a literal dream about a clear phone, so clearly he invented the concept and once again Samsung is infringing on our ideas and we will be suing them for $1,000,000,000 for infringement on our hypothetical product that we might someday maybe think about producing, after of course several other companies have developed, marketed, and perfected the technology. Because apple." - Tim Cook

Sorry, what device with flexible display you are referencing? I also don't know about any Samsung device with transparent display. This was done before btw, the movie was looper, I don't think it was samsung who made it

Yeah whatever Samsung. Still having the design with protruding camera and speaker on the back? I'm not gonna expect anything good from those retarded engineers who have no common sense. BTW what's up with that lame ass movie?

Though it's a dummy phone. However, their latest patent filing tells that they are going to change that dummy phone into a reality. Samsung files mutiple patent on the same. Samsung claims to have the technology and expertise to make flexible devices to change shape as and when required. They are going to bring smartphones that can be folded. You can stretch or contract the screen of Samsung smartphone whenever required. This has potential to replace laptops completely.
