Canadian consumers who necessarily don't want to side with any of the available variants of the Samsung Galaxy S can always look to the next best thing that won't drain their pockets – the Samsung Galaxy 5.
Virgin Mobile Canada appears to be readying this device for a November 12th launch and will be exclusive to them – plus, it'll be sporting a price of free with a SuperTab contract. Sure this might not outclass the Samsung Galaxy S in a host of areas, but it should nonetheless get the job done in roughly the same manner.
The Samsung Galaxy 5 features a 2.8” QVGA touchscreen, 2-megapixel camera, 600MHz processor, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3.5mm headset jack, microSD card slot, and running Android 2.1. Even though it'll be sporting the Eclair love from the onset, it seems that it'll be upgraded to Froyo down the road.
So if you're looking for an inexpensive Android smartphone that'll offer all of the amenities found with the mobile platform, then the Samsung Galaxy 5 just might fit the bill for you.
