OnePlus to launch one of the first 5G smartphones in 2019
There are going to be a lot of 5G smartphones next year if all the companies that confirmed plans to launch one will keep their promise. Besides introducing its new Snapdragon 675 Mobile Platform, Qualcomm announced that at least two 5G smartphones will be revealed early next year.

One of these two 5G smartphones could be launched by OnePlus. The company's co-founder Carl Pei took the stage at Qualcomm's event to announce that his company has already conducted a successful 5G test back in August and that it's ready to bring a 5G smartphone to the market very soon.

OnePlus' official also said that to his knowledge his company's 5G smartphone will be one of the first of its kind to be available on the market next year. Considering the fact that OnePlus launches flagships only, it would be safe to assume that the OnePlus 7 (or whatever its name) will be slightly more expensive due to the addition of 5G technology.

Obviously, OnePlus could launch two models of its flagship so that consumers can choose whichever fits their needs. Samsung, Huawei, Honor, Lenovo, and LG have also confirmed they will launch 5G smartphones in 2019, but the year isn't over yet and more companies may announce similar plans.

People should be buy phones next year for all sorts of reasons: - Better Camera - Faster Phone - Battery etc But 5G is something we need to think about. Just like LTE, 5G is going to be deployed by different carries with different bands. This means it will be at least until 2020 before we know what sort of bands our next phones should have.

I wouldn't worry about 5G right now it will take years before we'll have good coverage of 5G and know which bands each carrier will be using.
