One Plus will charge $100 more for its 5G smartphone next year

OnePlus is one of the companies that confirmed plans to release a 5G smartphone in Q1 2019, which will compete with the likes of Samsung, Huawei, Lenovo, LG, and Honor. OnePlus also said that its next flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 7 will not support 5G technology and that its 5G smartphone will be a different, more expensive model.
Now, Fudzilla reports that “people close to the matter” claim the price of OnePlus' 5G smartphone will start at $650 (€650), about $100 more than the company's current flagship, the OnePlus 6T.
OnePlus' 5G smartphone is likely to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chipset and the Snapdragon X50 5G NR modem. The rest of the phone's specs should be similar to the OnePlus 7 since it will be sold as a flagship, but with 5G support in tow.

Technically they still are reasonably priced when you consider the competition. OnePlus has always been about being more affordable than similar speced phones while offering a similar if not better user experience, Oneplus sells the Flagship killer not the cheap flagship my friend, purposely cheap flagships are what Xiaomi and Honor are all about. I would also like to point out that the 5G flaship is the one that will be much more than the 6T and you can expect the rest of the players to make their 5G option cost more than their 4G ones as well.

Learn to read. Increase in price is for a more expensive and premium phone, not for the normal series.

Isn't that the point of every for profit organizations? It's nothing new, companies have used that playbook forever. Start out at the bottom by offering cheap prices to build a users/fan base then once reach a certain level slowly starts to raise prices, before you know it, their prices are not that far apart from the mainstream guys they criticized when they first came into the market. I've seen that playbook many times now so nothing surprising here.

Still made by oppo, still not worth the hype or price. Oneplus was never a good alternative.

Apple fooled every other manufacturer into raising prices, but look how they all struggle right now (including Apple) , the only ones who do not are the ones with reasonable prices. OnePlus should learn from the other's mistakes...

Alot of people are not even reading and thinking. The 5G phone will be different so in other words it will be premium MIGHT be comming with wireless charging and water proof most likely. While the 7 and 7T will keep the prices down and not have thos features most likely. If this happens i'll get the 5G.
