Official Sony PlayStation app coming soon for Android and iPhone
With all the hype around the upcoming Sony Ericsson PlayStation phone aka the Zeus Z1, it might come as no surprise that Sony is working on an official PlayStation app for both iPhone and Android. Nevertheless, this is great news for gamers allowing them to stay social and keep up to date with friends' games, trophies, as well as discover the latest games for PS3, PS2 and PSP on their cell phone.

The app will be free and supposedly out by Christmas in select markets (UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, and The Netherlands). But the next version, which will include many other markets, is already in the works and will come as soon as January next year. The app supports iPhones running iOS 4.0 and above, as well as most Androids running versions from 1.6 and later. iPads will also get the app in the near future.

The official PlayStation app is a project that will develop over time and Sony assured gamers that “there are tons more features we are planning to bring to this app in the next few months.” Unfortunately, other platforms like Windows Phone 7, BlackBerry OS and Symbian are out of the plans for the moment. Take a look at the screenshots below and see the app for yourselves.
