Obopay introduces its mobile payment service in US

Obopay has introduced its mobile payment service, which is said to be the first complete service of this kind, offered in the United States. The service will allow customers to use their mobile phones for making person-to-person money transfers as well as spending money via a companion debit card, which will give them access to the money stored on their handset. This companion card can be used to cash money from an ATM or to buy something at any retail establishment that accepts MasterCard as OboPay is affiliated with MasterCard.

All the customers need to do in order to be able to use Obopay payment service, is to download Obopay application and install it on their phone. Once they've done so, they will be allowed to manage their account through an interactive window on their phone. They will be able to send and receive money, check balance, review transaction history, etc.

The Obopay service will be demonstrated at this year's CTIA show. The  application will be available for customers to download as from April 15 2006.

Obopay has also revealed that they are currently performing working trials with major wireless carriers and hope that they will be able to offer the Obopay service before the end of the year.
