New Google Maps update allows you to upload photos and tie it together to a Place
Google Maps has been updated to version 5.8 which adds some new features to the app. Now, pictures that you take with your phone can be used to tie in with Places. By doing this, you get to show via photographs what a particular place looks like. You might even have the profile picture for a particular Place.

Google has now added "descriptive terms" and "My Places" for the mobile version of Google Maps. The former tells you what a business is known for such as "Great coffee" or "Clean restrooms". The mobile version of My Places lets you know what places you have recently starred and which ones you have just visited. Finally, if you are out and want to check-in somewhere, you can add a new Place for businesses that haven't set up a page yet.

Other new features include a way to increase the size of the text in experimental labs. You also won't find the command "Download map area" which is now titled ‘Pre-cache map area.’ Download the updated Google Maps 5.8 for free from the Android Market, for handsets running Android 2.1 or higher.
