New 5.2-inch Sony Xperia smartphone spotted in benchmarks, Android 5.0 Lollipop on board
An unannounced 5.2-inch Sony smartphone was recently spotted in a couple of benchmark tests (at Geekbench and GFXBench), this suggesting that we might see the device in the near future. Since the Xperia Z3 also sports a 5.2-inch screen, you may think that this new handset could be the Xperia Z4. However, it's not.

According to the info found at Geekbench and GFXBench, the new Sony smartphone (model number E2303) runs Android 5.0 Lollipop, and is powered by an octa-core, 64-bit Snapdragon 615 processor, while its 5.2-inch display has a 720 x 1280 pixel resolution. Other features seemingly include a 12 MP rear camera, a 5 MP front-facing camera, 2 GB of RAM, and only 4 GB of internal memory.

All in all, the Sony E2303 appears to be a mid-range handset - perhaps a successor to last year's Xperia C3 (pictured above), which also has a 5 MP front-facing camera and a 720p display.

Since Sony won't announce the Xperia Z4 at MWC 2015 next month, maybe it will showcase this mysterious E2303 smartphone there. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Sounds like it's the Xperia M2's successor.

Makes no sense not to have 1080p on a SD615 device. Unless the flagship is only sticking to 1080p ofcourse.

The 4GB storage ruins an otherwise decent package :/

Yes it should be outlawed along with 8GB ones. Try fitting 2 proper 3rd person RPG games on these the phone would choke.

Descent hardware package except 4GB internal ROM .. Not all apps can go on MicroSD Card .. and there will be no memory left even for app cache and app leftovers !! Cannot use the actual potential of the hardware provided !!

They'll probably bank on their App-to-SD feature from their 2014 midrangers to compensate. On the upside, they seem to be streamlining their lineup (certainly less bloated than other OEMs).

Update: My bad, the 4 GB would be 8GB with preinstalled firmware on it (better than nothing) and XperiaBlog said it might be a prototype! There's was a 16GB SD610 version spotted in benchmarks as well.

I'm impatient to see the Z4 lol. Hoping it will have a great battery life like the Z3. My next phone if it were to miraculously come to Sprint.

Sony wtf!?!How can you in 2015 put 4 GB of internal storage in a "mid-range" smartphone? If this is true shame on you Sony, shame on you...

Maybe they accidentally put the 4GB, Instead of 16GB. They will never made a midranger with a good chipset that come only with 4GB internal storage in 2015
