Motorola DROID BIONIC appears in Verizon's internal Equipment Guide confirming September 8th launch
Just because the @DROIDBIONIC Twitter account turned out to be a fraud doesn't mean that the information that was tweeted was wrong. A photo of Verizon's internal Equipment Guide shows a September 8th launch date for the much-awaited smartphone, matching the launch date given out by the fraudulent tweet. This is actually the first legitimate confirmation of the long rumored September 8th launch date for the handset.

The wording on the Equipment Guide says that "the Motorola DROID BIONIC will launch to all channels on September 8th, 2011" and the lack of a direct fulfillment mention might indicate that there will be no pre-order period for the handset. Besides, we are talking about a device expected to be released in one week. According to some Verizon reps, accessories for the DROID BIONIC are already being shipped to stores. Can you taste it yet, Verizon customers?

I know and I got a feeling thats why. I figure Verizon didnt want the sgs2 because they knew it would destroy the bionic and they spent so much time and money on getting this phone ready. But its coming out basically at the same time as sprints epic 4g touch and I dont see this phone being able to stand up to it.

Rory, the Bionic can stand up to it purely because of Veriozn's LTE network and how far along it is now. we didn't really NEED the Galaxy S II even though it would've been nice to have it anyway. it's more like everybody else needed the Galaxy S II to survive Verizon's upcoming onslaught with the Bionic, Vigor & Prime (or whatever it's going to be)

quit comparing everything to the Galaxy S II. this is the second most powerful phone IN THE WORLD plus it has LTE. i'm not complaining.

Boing Boing is taking a poll to decide what to do with the "3D Robot Head" with the code to enable the 4th and final code on droiddoes.com! WHAT?!

I'm not seeing it in the specs. But it sure as hell better have a FM Radio! Droid X / X2 did. This phone is a powerful thing. It should!

I completely would have scooped up this phone a few months ago.. but I'm not so sure now. Being on the verge of the next generation of higher resolution displays and some nice 4.5" phones coming out.. I'm tempted to wait to see if the Prime lands on Verizon. I'd hate to be stuck with "old" tech for the next 20 months! Can anyone confirm if ANY Samsung phone has the notification LED? As good as the Prime may be, I just cannot see myself buying one without a notification LED.. I live by mine.

the Bionic will be far from old tech. you realize the processor in the Prime is nothing more than a higher clocked version of the processor that's in the Bionic? overclock it and it's the same thing. it'll get Ice Cream Sandwich quick and it'll probably have better battery life than the upcoming dual-core, LTE phones with 720p displays that are rumored to be around 9mm thick. you may have heard about the Bionic for a long time but this is not the same Bionic. people on other carriers would jizz puddles if they heard of a brand new phone like the Bionic coming to their network.
