Microsoft Edge passes 1 million downloads on Android

Only a week out of beta, Microsoft's Edge browser has already made significant ground in the Google Play Store, passing 1 million downloads. With this traction, Edge shot up the rankings to 3rd place in the 'top free communication' rankings in Google Play. While its download numbers still lag far behind the behemoths of Chrome and Firefox, Edge's unique feature-set may be able to help it gain more ground in the coming months and years. For comparison, since the iOS launch on December 1 the app has only reached over 10,000 downloads on Apple's App Store due to the cap on beta sign-ups. Google's less restrictive beta process meant that more Android users could download the beta prior to the official launch on November 29. 

For those unfamiliar with Edge, its main selling point is seamless integration with Windows 10. An icon in the bottom navigation bar allows you to 'pick up where you left off' on your Windows 10 PC. It can also sync your Favorites, History, and Reading List between devices. Other features include a built-in dark mode (always a crowd pleaser), and InPrivate browsing for increase privacy. Lately, Microsoft has been making strides to make Windows 10 friendlier with Android and iOS devices, with the larger aim of making the Microsoft experience more fluid.
