LG G Watch surfaces at a retailer: priced at $255, order today, get it on July 7th

Hours before Google I/O 2014, the LG G Watch has officially gone up for pre-order on retailer Mobile Fun with a price of $254.99. The G Watch will indeed feature an always-on display, run on the Android Wear platform, and you can order yours today and get it on July 7th.

The LG G Watch is offered in two colors: Stealth Black and Champagne Gold, and good news is that it is available not only in the United States, but also internationally (in Europe, the price is set at €225). Note that we've heard about a slightly lower, $199 (€199 in Europe) price earlier, so we're not perfectly sure whether this latest slightly higher price tag will be the final one.

LG’s first Android Wear-powered smartwatch features a rectangular display, and while we do not know the actual specs just yet, some rumors have made a bold suggestion that the G Watch will feature the fairly powerful Snapdragon 400 system chip.

We expect to see the Motorola Moto 360 also make an appearance at Google I/O, and we’ve heard whispers about a third Android Wear smartwatch, one that could be manufactured by Samsung (some sources say Asus could also make one). Hit the source link below to go to the store offering the LG G Watch, but for all the official info - stay tuned as Google I/O kicks off today, at 9am PT.

Always-ON Screen will drain the battery..

I wish they cost even less. Way too much money for a non designer non fashion watch.

So does Bluetooth, but Bluetooth uses so little energy these days that I have it on at all times and I am satisfied with my phones battery life.

This thing looks better with the screen off. What an ugly looking watch. I hated the Gear watch but at least it look better.

Is it the best looking watch ever? lol, no, but I am a utilitarian and I think most geeks are. I am more interested in function than fashion. Give it a few years and there will be all the fashion smart watches you could dream of, but for right now, the utilitarian geeks will be the ones developing and growing this market. Your day will come, just not yet.
