LG G Watch R fully unveiled: the first Android Wear smartwatch with a truly round display
After a bit of teasing, LG today revealed the G Watch R - the company's second Android Wear smartwatch, and the world's first to sport a perfectly round display (unlike Motorola’s Moto 360). The screen of the G Watch R is a 1.3-inch Plastic OLED (P-OLED) one with 320 x 320 pixels. LG says that this display provides “stunning image clarity” in any situation - including under bright sunlight.

Just like LG’s first Android Wear smartwatch, the G Watch R is IP67-certified, thus being dust- and water-resistant. It’ll offer several fitness apps, while also allowing users to monitor their heart rate thanks to a built-in PPG (photoplethysmography) sensor. Other features include a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of internal memory, and a 410 mAh battery. A stainless steel frame, and an interchangeable calf skin leather strap complete the stylish picture.

The LG G Watch R will be launched in select markets starting the fourth quarter of the year, for a price that hasn’t been announced. We hope to find out more about LG’s second Android Wear device at IFA 2014 next week, so make sure to check back soon for new details.

Looks more like a watch than the 360 does.

they probably learnt a few things from the moto 360...the 360 looks like a grandpa watch now

where can I get one? Have not been interested in any of those square smartwatches, but the 360 did catch my attention, and now this one aswell. Of the two, I would agree the LG looks better.

Great design looks more like a conventional watch. Pricing will be the key factors here . Hopefully it'll be $250 utmost.

These are renderings, I would wait for the real product, because in renderings everything looks high-end. We have seen the moto 360, we have seen that it's truly high-end, made of stainless steel and leather, with a big, crisp and bright display. The G watch looks like it's made of plastic, and we don't know how the display will look in real life.

Impressive. I'd say it looks better than the 360.

Seriously? Lets see. LG's standard plastic square watch is $229. So, um, ya, probably the round metal and leather one that adds a heart rate sensor is more than $200.

Very well done, thoughtful, design by LG. The Moto 360 looks like a clunky prototype from the R&D lab in comparison.

very well done??? Please tell me how is this a smartwatch? Why have a snapdragon processor? For what? This looks like a 100 bucks fossil watch to me. I rather go to Macy's.

Ooh. This is exciting. Let's see what the rest of the competition will do with their smartwatch. So far, this the best design.

I still dont understand why manufacturers show a product that's more than 2 months away from being released. I hate that. Just keep your secrets until its ready to be sold. This is where I would love for everyone to copy Apple. They announce and release within 2 weeks.

I agree with your comment 99% of the time, but they're capitalizing on Motorola's HUGE blunder of significantly delaying the 360 (which isn't even a 360). By showing what's coming, they've just killed the big appeal of the 360. Motorola's "innovative marvel" has just been reduced to a very 1st gen looking beta product. Look at this as a shot across the bow.

I'd imagine they don't want you to spend your money on an iwatch or moto 360 while they are still beta testing and mass producing. As for keeping secrets before the announcement, if Apple releases an iphone 6 that is 4.7 inches with a back that looks similar to the HTC One as has been leaked for 7 months, then the value of an announcement is minimal.

I see LG raising a banner stating " This is how u do it baby". This is a great a lesson of how to steal the show from a device that is very well anticipated from the crowds like the Moto 360. +1 to LG

History consistently shows that major delays simply kill a product. Motorola deserves the huge losses in sales as a result. They were beyond foolish not to release the 360 with LG and Samsung way back.

Oh this is a crappy design. Smartwatch my a** this looks copied off a Swatch or Tissot. Meh, Koreans... Anyway I am betting this won't have a light sensor, if no, then fail. Its a waste to wear a watch if you have to increase the brightness every time you leave the house...
