HTC is "on track" to update carrier versions of One (M8) and One (M7) to Lollipop by February

Not long after starting updating its One (M8) and One (M7) Google Play Editions to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop, HTC posted some information for those who don’t have a GPE device.

According to the company, it’s “still on track” to deliver Android Lollipop to carrier versions of both the One (M8) and One (M7) “within 90 days” from the first day when it announced the updates (that’s November 3). Thus, if you have an HTC One on Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or another carrier, you should get Lollipop in early February 2015 the latest.

As for the unlocked and Developer editions of the two smartphones, HTC says it’ll have news about them “soon.” Most probably, this means they’ll be updated to Lollipop earlier than the carrier versions.

While a previous rumor had it that the Lollipop update for the One (M8) would come with Sense 7 UI, this isn’t the case. HTC will likely not even announce Sense 7 in the coming months, so the Android 5.0 update includes the same Sense 6 UI that users are already familiar with.
