From app to TV game show: CBS wins rights to Draw Something
Popular mobile game, Draw Something, is about to make the jump from your phone screen to your living room screen. CBS has just won a bidding war in which it locked up rights to pilot a game show based on Zynga’s hit, Draw Something.

Sony Pictures Television, Ryan Seacrest Productions, and Embassy Row are reportedly producing the show. Apparently the idea is celebrities and contestants will play the game and showcase their art in front of a studio audience. There will also be a tie in that allows at home viewers to join in, although exactly how that will be executed has not been revealed.

While we have seen other partnerships between mobile and other facets of the entertainment industry, such as Rio and Angry Birds, this is the first time we’ve seen a mobile game go straight to primetime. On the flip side, Draw Something is conceptually the same as Pictionary, which was both a popular board game and a TV show, so this idea just might work.

So what do you think? Would you tune in to watch celebrities play Draw Something on TV? Do you think any other mobile games would make a great TV game show?
