Essential Phone vs Galaxy S8+ vs Apple iPhone 7 Plus vs LG G6: a four-way specs comparison

Andy Rubin's latest foray into hardware is now official with the Essential phone, a device that arrives with a splash and obviously skimps neither on specs nor on appearance.

With a Snapdragon 835, 4GB of RAM, a 19:10 Quad HD display, two 13MP cameras at the back, and a 3,040mAh battery on deck, it seems to have what it takes to tackle on the Galaxy S8+, the LG G6, and the venerable iPhone 7 Plus.

Phew, what a selection!

Let's see how the bold newcomer compares against these in terms of specs and raw hardware prowess!

To be fair iPhone7+ has optimization on its side. Would still be nice if it had a bigger battery though.

You don't know what you're talking about the iPhone 7+ has horrible battery life! XEETECHCARE YouTube channel. Proof!!!

Don't let the screen size fool you Its 141.5x 71.1mm, that's like the Pixel (2770mAh) The S8 is 148.9x68.1mm and still has the same size battery as this

S8 also has fantastic optimization: look at XEETECHCARE on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

I love monochrome sensor, they have insane depth to picture like Foveon x3 sensors

Lately,OEMs are messing with displays by making them elongated with weird aspect ratio and by putting camera inside the screen.Too much of abnormal innovation.Simply make an edge to edge display phone by putting sliding camera at the back which can be also used for selfie and 360 degree rotation as well .

Waiting for the first phone to embed the fingerprint sensor underneath the display.

That'll either be apple with the iphone 8 or lg with the v30.

If they still have bezel on the bottom, why didn't they place the selfie camera there ? Also, the fingerprint sensor would have been much better placed on the front bottom bezel than in the rear.

I feel that the battery life will be very poor :( IPS LCD screens are nowhere near as efficient as AMOLED.

Wow....a true "small" phone. It's only marginally larger than an iPhone 6/6s. This is not one of those super tall phones from Samsung/LG that they incorrectly say are easy to use/hold. I am not on board paying $600+ for this, but could see myself picking one up when it goes on sale in 8 months.

Essentially this is a worthless joke going nowhere on the Android platform today.
