Cricket Wireless will soon offer free texting and calling from Mexico and Canada to the US

Cricket Wireless will soon offer free texting and calling from Mexico and Canada to the US
With the EU proceeding to its plan to abolish roaming fees in member countries and T-Mobile recently dropping charges for call, text, and data roaming to and from Mexico and Canada, it looks like carriers are gradually dropping various charges associated with roaming.

Prepaid carrier Cricket Wireless is the latest to join the club, recently announcing a move that will only spell happiness for those of you who frequently make trips to Mexico or Canda.

At the moment, Cricket Wireless customers get free texting and free calling from the US to both Mexico and Canada. In the near future, Cricket Wireless will also offer free calling and texting from Mexico and Canada to the US.

In Mexico's case, the charges will be dropped starting August 2nd. Free calling and texting from Canada to the US will come later in August at an unspecified date.

To prevent abuse, Cricket Wireless says that calls from Mexico to the US cannot exceed 50% of the subscriber's total usage for three consecutive months. Subscribers who break this rule will have their accounts subject to termination.

What do you guys think of the carrier's decision to offer free calling and texting from Canada and Mexico to the US?

TMobile already has this type of plan....you honestly think ATT wanted to fork over the roaming cash they receive?

AT&T bought out a carrier in Mexico a little while back and that enables this.

They could have done it from the get go. Tmobile is basically paying carriers so customers don't have too. And it doesn't change Canada part either. Tmobile ususally does something first, the rest follow. This includes, pricing, data, plans, rates, and other things like this.

HA, this might be temporary promotion just they did with 1 cents calling to others America and Europe countries. 5 months of good savings and then removed by Mr. greedy.

This is a terrific move that hopefully becomes a trend that will also encourage the carriers to cooperate with each other better in domestic roaming agreements too.

He means T-Mobile sort off forcing ATT to match their offer of Mexico and Canada included offer.
