ChatON, Samsung's answer to BBM and iMessage, is now on the Android Market
The ChatON instant messenger, courtesy of Samsung, has landed in the Android Market today and is available to anyone holding on to a device running Android 2.2 or higher. Yes, that is correct. Even though the Korean manufacturer is behind the service, using it is possible on any compatible Android smartphone regardless of its make.

ChatON is Samsung's blow against BBM and iMessage, and unlike the two of them it is not proprietary, which is why it isn't available exclusively to Samsung devices. What's more is that iOS and BlackBerry OS versions of ChatON are about to be released soon as well.

Besides one-on-one conversations, the service supports group chats, broadcasts, animated messages, as well as sending pictures, videos, audio, location data, calendar entries and contact information to your buddies. There are also a few more perks like the so-called Interaction Rank, which shows how active a user is at ChatON, as well as the ability to comment on user profiles.

Feel free to check out ChatON in action below, and if it sparks your interest, hit the source link to get it from the Android Market. Once you try it out, the comment section is all yours, so do not hesitate to share your impressions with us.

this is better than whatsapp...instant...on whatsapp, quiet often it gets laggy sending/receiving messages, perhaps they need to boost up their servers 'coz so many people use the app... another thing, on chaton, you know when someone's read your messages, which isnt the case with whatsapp...

i dont understand why peoples get always in fight over android and ios. There is no reason to fight and prove mine is better (ugliest human nature). After all neither android or ios is anyone personal properties. May be i have android this year i will have iphone next year and again android after that. And in my views its good if there are more options available. This will increase competition in market which will finally lead to price reduction of gadgets.

I tried. and it's all screwed up. It never sent the first few verifications codes. Then eventually sent them hours later. And they don't work...

You just have to wait depending on how many times you requested for a code. I requested like 20 times, so I had to wait for the 20th text reply before it could work. Sadly their verification system ain't good but Chaton is awesome. Been using it for a few hours. Totally worth the wait! I'm uninstalling Whatapp and Talkbox for this once even more of my friends use it.

For those asking message arrive within a few hours of request(got mine) server seems to be clogged, try the link on this page,it leads to the app. If the app says your device is not supported don't worry, just check again in the weekends

And as a matter of fact, The Galaxy S2 has had built in messaging since April (compatible with all the commonly used ones). Stupid Apple trolls just don't want to see the reality and thinks that Apple has invented everything that Apple does, even though the reality is that they copy everything Samsung does. This new messenger is a platform-independent chat, that will eventually work on everything, including your pathetic iPhones and macbooks.

I normally try to refrain myself, but whatever...it's internet! @Miz: What's up? Don't you have anything better to do? I mean seriously do you have any job/business? or do you just fart whole day? It's as if you are the illegitimate son of Jobs. I guess you guys would have no issues with that.

Listen iTards Androids have had all of the abilities of the bs personal assistant for quite some time now with Googles voice commands and as for The_Miz's comment about Samsung copying Apple again, then you must have forgotten that Apple got this idea from BB messenger, which has been around for years and I don't believe either of those programs does everything this program offers so jog on iTards!!

Lol typical Ifans...even though they implemented voice control and bbm like messaging now after years they now seem to think apple invented and now whoever does it now copies apple lol...and they wonder why apple fans are called sheep's

yeah because iMessage is a new innovative service..... and you saw the video? I doubt both bb and imessage do all what ChatOn does also the server is overloaded with people trying to sing in at the same time Samsung temporally hid the app until servers are back to normal.... sounds familiar?
