Buggy Windows 10 Preview sent out OTA to Nokia Lumia 930

Buggy Windows 10 Preview sent out OTA to Nokia Lumia 930
According to a report published in Greece, a Nokia Lumia 930 received a surprise OTA update to a preview build of Windows 10 Mobile. The report noted that the OS was host to an inordinate number of bugs, which is not that unusual considering that this is still a beta version after all. One problem that was mentioned in the report was the propensity of the phone to heat up to the point where it became annoying.

Apparently, other tasks besides running video games caused the Lumia 930 to run hot. Even with just the launcher running, the handset became unbearably warm. Hopefully, the crew in Redmond will be able to go through all of the bugs, including issues with the temperature, and resolve the problems.

You can check out the Windows 10 Mobile Preview running on the Lumia 930, and get a quick peek at the Edge browser in action, by clicking on the video below.

Thanks for the tip!

All the windows phones with the preview become terrible hot. I mean, just having it on is a risk of burning a hole in your pants. As for the update, they should really re-release 8.1. A bunch of unsuspecting users are getting a alpha or pre-alpha OS. This is not beta. No where near it. Also, I find it funny how the only windows phone news they report is negative. Perfect clickbait, as usual.

This is the first I've heard of somebody accidentally receiving the update who was not on the insider program, so I don't know if it's happening to "a bunch" of users involuntarily. Having been running W10 preview on my phone for months, it's been warm when running tasks like navigation, but it's been pretty normal other than that. The most recent version is a pretty decent beta. Some small bugs for sure, but definitely within the bounds you would expect from a beta.

Yeah, I read that part wrong. I still believe they should re-release 8.1 though. I've also been running the preview on a Lumia 810, and it has been getting really warm. It has certainly gotten better in the last few builds, but it is still not very optimal for longer usage.

Yeah I agree with the longer usage bit, battery life hasn't been good with the insider preview. Though it is getting a little bit better with each build. What do you mean by re-release 8.1 though? most people are still on 8.1 (those who did not join the insider program). Those who did join the insider program are free to use the Nokia Software Recovery Tool on the PC to go back to 8.1.

Since the last couple of builds, my Lumia 1020 has not been getting hot like previous builds of windows 10 mobile. It can get a little warm, but not extremely hot like before.

That's what I said. The previous versions did get hot on my 1020, the camera sensor is what got hot in the preview versions, not to hot to hold, but hot enough to be concerned. I have not yet had it get hot at all on the current version 10166.

Well if they would read the preview terms and warnings then it would be pretty normal that's why it's called preview cause it have bugs.
