Apple's App Store now has a section dedicated to selfies

Believe it or not, if you’re obsessed with selfies, Apple is now making it easy for you to feed your obsession. The App Store recently added a section that promotes applications which should help you take and share the perfect selfie. Mind you, this is not a new category, but a seemingly temporary section.

The section includes popular apps like Snapchat or Facetune, but also some that you may have not heard of - like Front Flash, which provides “a simple way to take self-portraits in low-light with the front camera.”

Of course, selfies are now a social phenomenon, even the Oscars making some of them hugely popular. So if you have an iDevice and you're constantly taking selfies, head on over to the App Store to see what's available for you. The new section should be visible on the front page of the App Store, both in the desktop iTunes application, and on iOS.

I've never really understood the point of taking selfies. They're usually not very interesting or helpful in any way.

It's usually just for the fun of the person who takes the selfies himself/herself.

Yeah, I'm not that kind of guy that hangs out at social networking and selfie apps 24/7. It's a waste of time...

Vanity unchecked. Figures and ties in very easily with A large portion of iPhone crowd. When the iconic fad/style is more important then function, iPhone has got your picture covered.

People been taking "selfies" forever, since BEFORE SMARTPHONES GOT SO POPULAR. Remember old feature phones which had the little mirror next to the camera? What was that for? Just media manufacturing trends again - coz there is no current worldwide craze to talk about since Harlem Shake!

Not sure what's worse, all these selfies or people constantly taking pictures of their food.

How about we only allow hot girls to take selfie now? Like set a standard for selfies? EX: when fat and ugly girls try take a selfie, the camera app shuts down lmao. Way too many ugly girls think they have the body or face for a perfect selfie. The worst thing is you have to pretend they look ok and tried not to laugh or criticize (Cuz their friends think they look "hot"). #nomoreuglygirlsonyoursocialwall
