Apple gets MagSafe-like patent for iOS devices

Apple gets MagSafe-like patent for iOS devices
Ever seen that neat magnetic connector on a Mac? Yup, the same one that conveniently protects you from rolling your precious gadget on the floor after you’ve tripped on the power cord for the nth time. Soon iOS devices might come with a similar one, at least if we are to look at Apple’s newly filed patent for a MagSafe-style connector for mobile devices. The core of the patent boils down to a moving magnetic coupling, which “in one particular embodiment, … may be a power connector as the MagSafe,” the patent states.

The new connector is illustrated to come on the back of an iOS device like the iPad and is positioned at a slight angle. This suggests that pulling out a cord might be easier than with a vertically located connector. Hey, one less reason for accidentally breaking your device after you’ve stumbled over it, isn’t it?

davecann2 I don't like iOS, but I have to agree with you! There is nothing wrong with this article. There is no reason for a post like that!

That's because your a troll superandroidevo an article like this or any IOS article you go to, you just put your lines out in the water. Just because I'm tired of all this patent crap doesn't mean my post was hateful and many of your posts are hateful so I don't know what the hell your talking about.

I can't troll on a website in which I am a member. This article is on because it is relevant to the mobile industry. I came to this article to post on it because put it here so we ALL (even people like yourself who are unregistered) can post our opinions on it. I am tired too, of the patent stuff but it is relevant & is doing an excellent job in providing great up to the minute information. I STILL don't get how I am trolling though! Ohh & davecann2 said you were hateful so I don't even know why you addressed that to me!

I've trolled, we all have trolled, your right, I've said a lot of hateful things before, a lot more then what I said in this article.@gallitoking your right, PA has the right to report news and I have the right to comment and you think what I said was hateful, you have the right to think that, but that's what I feel about this article

@Heatfan316, Although I did get a slight feeling of Apple hate from your comment my reponce was mainly ment to be sarcastic while directly pointing out the iBashing on this site. Sorry Heatfan that I used your comment to point out my opinion. STill you have to admit that there was a slight hint of Apple bias in there. Personaly, I do get annoyed with the bickering but I also kind of enjoy the debates.

"In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion." Via. Wikipedia Nowhere does it say "unless you are a member of the website" trolling is trolling, if you post flamebait one a website you are not a member of its trolling, but if you post the same thing on a website you are a member of, it isn't?

I personally don't like apple but technically this is already one of their patents on their computers so why shouldn't they be able to use it on their phones?

I agree if they hold the patent for the Mac then why do they need it for the iPhone or iPad? Can't they just put the device on their other products?
