Apple had Selena Gomez and the Cookie Monster. HTC had  Robert Downey Jr. and Gary Oldman. Sony had that James Bond thing, and Samsung is bullish on Lil Wayne. Pushing consumer products with some help from celebs is nothing new—it's just one more way the advertising industry goes about its goal of convincing you to buy stuff. And with LG's flagship phone, the G5, just three days away from hitting the market, you can bet the South Korean company's marketing machine is ready to flirt.

After booking Joseph Gordon-Levitt to promote the V10, LG is this time around turning to antihero regular Jason Statham—a veteran of a number of action classics such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, and The Italian Job. Instead of his typical, high-octane scenes, however, you can expect Statham to, once again (Spy), go for a more lighthearted role, consistent with LG's "Play More" campaign around the G5 and its "Friends" accessories.

The TV spot will be broadcast for the first time on April 1st in key worldwide markets for LG, including North and Latin America, Europe, and East Asia. Two teasers hinting at Statham's involvement in the project have already been made public on LG Mobile's official YouTube channel and both are available for viewing below.
