Amp'd Mobile and MTV partner to deliver entertainment content

MTV Networks and the Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) - Amp'd Mobile have formed a partnership in order Amp'd Mobile to deliver video clips,ringtones, ringbacks, screensavers, wallpapers and other content from MTV, VH1, Comedy Central and all of MTV's channels to its subscribers. According to their agreement MTV will invest $50 million in the MVNO, which is expected to launch limitedly online on Dec. 15. Moreover, MTV Networks Chief Digital Officer Jason Hirschhorn will join Amp'd's board of directors. The two companies claimed that they are planning to develop joint marketing and promotions across MTV Networks' brands and advertising channels. In addition to the entertainment content from MTV, Amp'd also plans to offer clips from Viacom's CBS, News Corp.'s Fox and Disney's ESPN. As phonearena.com informed last week Amp'd Mobile plans to offer only EV-DO capable handsets, using Verizon Wireless network and the first handset to be launched is the Kyocera Jet slider phone.
