Amazon kicks off Sony Xperia XZ3 pre-orders in the US, throwing in free Xperia Ear Duo headset
Sony’s latest flagship smartphone may not be 5G-ready (duh), also capping off at a modest (by ultra-high-end standards) 4GB RAM in the US and Europe, with its battery life proving a bitter disappointment in our in-depth testing.

But even though we expected the Xperia XZ3 to only kick off pre-orders stateside on September 24 ahead of an actual October 17 commercial rollout, you can already reserve an early copy of the 6-inch OLED powerhouse over on Amazon, which is pretty nice.

Better yet, the e-commerce giant lists September 24 as the handset’s release date now. And best of all, if you hurry, you can get a crazy valuable gift that will take a lot of the sting out of an arguably exorbitant $899.99 recommended price.

We’re not talking about a free PlayStation 4 copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, which itself felt quite compelling for early Sony Xperia XZ3 adopters on the old continent, but rather the company’s ingenious “dual-listening” Xperia Ear Duo wireless earbuds.

There’s no telling how long this deal might last, but if you pre-order the unlocked Xperia XZ3 today (in black), you’re eligible for a complimentary matching pair of Xperia Ear Duo headphones, which normally cost a whopping $280 by themselves.

If you don’t like free stuff, a “phone only version” of the Xperia XZ3 is available in Forest Green at the full $899.99 retail price, also targeting a September 24 delivery date.
The Snapdragon 845-powered, Android 9.0 Pie-running phone doesn’t appear to have commenced US pre-orders anywhere else, and the company’s own regional webpage continues to lack a purchase button.

There’s definitely a chance Amazon jumped the gun here, but if you were thinking about buying an XZ3, now’s the time to pull the trigger and hope the September 24 shipping date sticks.
