Alleged Moto X+1 front panel caught on camera, compared to Moto X

Alleged Moto X+1 front panel caught on camera, compared to Moto X
Motorola has given the date for what is assumed to be the announcement for the Moto X+1, Moto G2, and Moto 360; so, obviously it's time for the leaks to begin in earnest. We've already seen what appears to be benchmarks from the X+1, which (if real) give the full spec breakdown of the device. Now, we're getting a look at what is alleged to be the Moto X+1 front panel.

The images come from HelloMotoHK, and do give a bit of info, if they are to be believed. The front panel alone isn't that much bigger than the Moto X. It looks as though the extra screen size is being gained on the top and bottom, as those bezels are smaller. There basically wasn't any room to shrink the side bezels from the Moto X anyway. Given that the display is expected to be 5.2-inches on the X+1, compared to 4.7-inches on the Moto X, it would seem the screen-to-phone ratio is going to be pretty impressive. It is also clear that the front speakers are going to be quite a bit bigger on the X+1, and are definitely set up to be stereo speakers.

Overall, it is looking good. The rear speaker on the Moto X was surprisingly good, and showed impressive machine work on the wooden panels, but front stereo speakers are something that a lot more phones would do well to adopt. What do you guys think?

Nice bezels. Not LG G3, but close.

Considering those might be front facing speakers i'd say this is a very respectable effort from Motorola. I'd rather have the speakers than the ultra thin bezels.

Exactly. Those speakers in the front look like they would take a lot more space ala the m8 and the z2. All things considering and comparing to the motoX, that is a very compact 5.2" panel. Much like my G2. Honestly, I was hoping it stayed 4.7". Even the G2 is stretching my palm and fingers to the point 'ease' is not how I would describe it.

I'm more concerned about the width of the device.

Sorry this is what I meant also. The width affects the one handed use more than the height.

Yes, the top and bottom bezels don't bother me as much as the ones on the side. So far OEMs have been pretty good about this as it's only the budget phones that still sport huge side bezels.

I'm pretty disappoint the top and bottom bezels are quite big I was hoping they could keep the X+1 the same dimensions as the X

The bezels are not big at all. And there was no way they were going to fit a 5.2" screen into a 4.7" phone body considering how compact the Moto X is.

Right? If this is actually a 5.2" screen, I think it is amazing Moto was able to keep it so close in size to the original X WHILE adding dual front facing speakers. Well done Moto, if this phone has a good camera, good battery life and has IP ratings it will be an instabuy for me.

People nowadays get caught up in bezel size. Wait for it to be released and handle it in person before making a judgement. Sometimes how you connect things to the PCB doesn't always play nicely with the design. Personally I like having some "breathing" space should I put a case on the phone. I don't want the edges of the case to get in the way of function. Use a text editor on a phone with super thin side bezels with a case on it and try editing the first edge of a line, always bugged me on the Droid Razr M when it did have a case on it.

Dude... Coming from a Note 3 which I really like, I totally want this phone. I loved the feel in the hand of my Moto G I just sold. So this is going to be mine!

Tell me about it. I've definitely noticed a difference in call & signal quality in my Note 3 coming from the RAZR Maxx & Droid Maxx.

Considering the much bigger screen, this doesn't look much bigger overall than the Moto X. Also, the way Motorola curves the back ought to make it more comfortable to hold than normal phones of its size.

MotoX looks better.
