Accessory porn - the OnePlus Two's USB Type-C cable looks smoking in red
Hey, we're not usually into publishing pictures of USB cables on PhoneArena, but we figured this one is worth the special attention! It's the first of its kind USB Type-C cable to ship bundled with a smartphone, and since it's made by OnePlus, it was also given a special design treatment. Indeed, we're entering an age where even a most utilitarian accessory like the USB cable is being made to delight! The flat design prevents the cable from tangling up, and the clasp lets one roll it up in place.

USB Type-C connectivity is reversible, boasts significantly faster data speeds, and offers much higher power output than traditional USB adapters. Supported by Google's upcoming Android M, rumor has it that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will offer USB Type-C. But OnePlus may beat the Korean company to the draw, claiming that the OnePlus 2 "will be the first flagship to use Type C USB."

So far, we know that the OnePlus 2 will run on the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 SoC and that it's going to carry a higher price tag than that of the original OnePlus One. The smartphone could be announced pretty soon, possibly in July or August. So if you want to learn more about it ahead of the eventual announcement, head over to our OnePlus 2 rumor round-up page, like, right this second!

I'm a sucker for red cords. I use Anker red braided nylon cords for all my charging needs. They look great. They're also 28/21 AWG.

That would be a compatibility problem unless you use a new MacBook which only has a USB-C slot.

The first one looked like this and was crap, worked for all of a week or two before becoming useless. Phone is great, but both the cable and charger were bad. Hope they improve them this time around.

I hope it doesn't end up like the Nokia N1 tablet, which doesn't provide support some of the features of USB Type-C (http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n1-review-1267p3.php )

What exactly is the "other" end of the cable? USB 3.1 reversible?

I am actually shocked that Samsung didn't include this in the GS6/GS6 edge. I mean it doesn't matter to me in the slightest since I use wireless charging and never had to plug a cable into my GS6 since I have owned it, but usually Samsung is quite thorough with including the latest. I think they were worried that people would complain about not being able to use their old micro USB cables and they were also worried that it might backfire on them like the full USB 3.0 port on the GS5 backfired on them. Well, we shall see if they decide to test reaction to it with the Note 5.

Will the current micro-usb cables be able to plug into the new plugs or no?

@TBomb No, current USB micro cable will not plug in to the new Type-C ports. Putting a "naked" reversible 2.0 USB connection on the B-side of a USB 3.1 Type-C cable makes zero sense, as the 2.0 protocol will negate any advantages one might hope to gain by using 3.1 Type-C. The best solution would be a reversible 3.0 connection on the B-side to ensure legacy compatibility and still maintain speeds/function. @blitztekcables
