Xiaomi might be coming to America! Alleged February 12 event scheduled in San Francisco
Xiaomi didn't seem in a hurry to probe the American market for the next few years, which doesn't mean it won't pursue the American dream in other ways. According to inside sources, the company has scheduled an event for February 12 in San Francisco, California - just 46.3 miles away from Apple's base of operations.
But what does Mi have to do on US soil? Well, there are many possibilities. It could be setting up shop or announcing new hardware. It could be partnering up with US companies. It could be opening a research and development center. It could be ex-Googlers Hugo Barra (VP of Global Devision at Mi) and Jai Mani (lead product manager) showing Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun around while eating tons of gelato. If this alleged event is for real, we'll learn soon enough. We're genuinely curious what Xiaomi has been up to this time.
