Sony introduces the Xperia L1: an elegant and affordable 5.5-inch smartphone

Sony today unveiled the Xperia L1, an elegant smartphone with a 5.5-inch HD display, classic Sony design, and a Dual SIM version.

Although L1's name may suggest ties with 2013's peculiar Xperia L, the new phone bears almost no resemblance to it, as it is decidedly more slender and more stylish in its presentation. The Xperia L1 features a classic Sony design – a flat top and bottom create ostensibly sharp edges when viewed from the front or back, which blend smoothly into the rounded sides of the device.

The front of the device is occupied by a 5.5-inch 720p display and a 5MP selfie camera, while its back houses a 13MP primary camera with autofocus and an LED flash.

Sony's new mid-range Xperia L1 is powered by a MediaTek 64-bit quad-core CPU clocked at 1.45GHz that is backed by a 2620 mAh battery, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage. The latter is expandable to up to 256GB via the micro SD card slot, which should satisfy the needs of even the biggest data hoarders out there.

The Sony Xperia L1 runs a custom version of Android Nougat out of the box, that will be able to adapt to the user's habits, automatically adjusting different settings, such as ringtone volume, brightness, and notifications, depending on where you are and what you are doing.

The Xperia L1 will be available in in late April in select markets, including Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. It will be initially available in three colors: white, black, and pink. Pricing details are to follow, Sony promises the handset to be "affordably priced".

720 2gb Ram midrange? You are joker. I see new trend is already here and Sony implementing pretty well. Nice shell and budget innards. Who cares , average Joe will fall for this beauty but , Milen, that was a damn good mid joke.

right..
there are lots of $150 phone with 1080p screen, 2GB RAM, and 16 GB ROM..
and that mediatek's "quad-core CPU clocked at 1.45GHz" is also low end, since it's just a bit faster than SD410 (2014's low-end)

Well at least you still get little bit more RAM than some Samsung and LG 2017 affordable smartphones that only comes with 1.5GB of RAM and 720p display.

check nokia 3 ... they have identical specs .. this could be priced a little higher than nokia 3 , since it has 13 mp rear though f2.2 (good for marketing ) + sony loves overpricing...

but for the price it's quite balanced though. The real disappointment is the XA1 with it's 2300 mah battery.. Yuck.

If the price is 200 € it's a decent phone, above that, and it's hard to justify
