Samsung Galaxy S5 coming to major US carriers in April, contests through Sprint and T-Mobile

Samsung Galaxy S5 coming to major US carriers in April, contests through Sprint and T-Mobile
The Samsung Galaxy S5 has finally been announced, and there are quite a slew of new features and functions to go through, but of course the real piece of information that you probably want to know is when you'll be able to get your hands on Samsung's next flagship device. Well, you won't have to wait too long, because all major US carriers are announcing that the S5 will be available in April.

So far, we have gotten the official word from AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and MetroPCS that the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be made available in April, and we expect that we will soon get word from Verizon saying the same. None are offering information on pricing or the specific availability date, but given that Samsung specifically stated April 11th in its keynote, that's a likely date to expect the release. Each does also have extras to announce along with the S5 availability.

AT&T will not only be offering the Galaxy S5, but will also have the Gear 2, Gear Neo, and Gear Fit available for purchase in April. Sprint is running a contest to win a $100 Visa gift card just for pre-registering for more info on the S5. T-Mobile and MetroPCS are going a bit farther though by running contests to give away a Samsung Galaxy S5 and an S-View Flip Cover. So, it's really up to you which carrier to go with.

If you don't happen to live in the US, Samsung has said that it will be releasing the Galaxy S5 in over 150 countries starting April 11th.

I am getting really mad at people who are complaining about the screen resolution. The iphone isn't even 720p.. full HD is enough for a phone of this size. Personally I think all the new aspects are gonna make this one heck of a seller. Even if the sales don't go as planned, I personally know I am getting one

The next big thing is to hate on Samsung. Just ignore the trolls. They're hungry today.

Sony Z2 or Samsung S5

They are both water resistent..

I would go with the Z2; better looking design (IMO), bigger battery, a camera that is know to be great, the waterproofing is higher rated (though the dustproofing is a step down from the S5). Regrettably Sony doesn't release CDMA phones, so I can't get it.

The camera on the Z1 was a hit or miss - literally. Both are waterproof, but the removable battery is a definite plus and a reason why I'll never consider getting a Sony phone in the future.

Really? I've only heard good things about the camera as it was in the full sized Z1, it was the compact that seemed to have problems with it.

Personally I don't care about removable batteries and would rather have a large battery that I cant remove. I care about design over that, and think the Z series looks great.

I am impressed that the S5 still has a removable battery even with its waterproofing and dustproofing, I really want to see a video of someone swapping it out to see how Samsung managed that.

You have to admit that their are both Apple and Samsung trolls. But today Samsung didn't deliver the goods. People have every right to be upset.

Is the S5 a good phone? Yes, but for people to wait a year for a S4 rehash is not harsh for the bashing comments you hear...

The same exact thing happened last year with the S4 announcement. Same exact thing. Guess what? S4 was the most referenced, talked about, and rated phone on PA in 2013 besides the 5S.
