Samsung Galaxy A8 prices will start at around $515
Officially unveiled yesterday as the thinnest smartphone in Samsung's history, the Galaxy A8 should be available starting later this month in China. Initially, Samsung didn't mention the price of the A8, but now, thanks to Chinese website CNMO, we know how much the new handset will cost in China.

Samsung will sell the Galaxy A8 16 GB for 3,199 CNY (about $515), and the 32 GB version for 3,499 CNY (about $564). These prices are similar to those rumored earlier this month.

Although it's the thinnest Samsung smartphone ever (only 5.9 mm), the A8 is actually pretty big. It sports a large 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 pixels, thus being 158 mm tall and 76.8 mm wide - almost exactly the dimensions of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus.

Galaxy A8 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop, and is built around a metals chassis. It's the first handset in Samsung's A series to come with a fingerprint scanner, as well as the first (in the same series) to offer a 16 MP rear camera. Other features include a 5 MP front-facing camera, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2 GB of RAM, microSD card support, and a 3050 mAh battery.

At the moment, we don't know if Samsung is planning to launch the Galaxy A8 all over the world, but we'll report back as soon as we find out. Until then, let us know if you think the new and super-thin Galaxy is worth $515 (unlocked, of course).

Yeah, atleast SD808 should have been included then for this price instead of SD615.

SD810 and SD615 are the worst processors.

Are you new to smartphone? Do you have any clue about Samsung prices in Asian market? if not then, read before you comment.

Any Samsung phone in Asian market is launched with higher price. Those proces are just for show. In retail, such phones are available with full warranty in less price. And within 2 months, you will find the same phone available around $400, guranteed. It happened for all Samsung phone and will be same for each and every Samsung phone in future.

If you don't know this, better read first before you comment.

Exactly.
Here in Lebanon, phones(mainly Samsung ones) gets priced at least $100 less than what initial reports claim. I could definitely see the A8 sold on day one for $420.

It's a moot point. It'll never come to the US. We'll be lucky to snag it from Expansys or maybe a 3rd party on Amazon. And of course Verizon users are out.

SAMSUNG needs to own / co-own / buy another OEM that can compete with ASUS and the rest of the Bang for Buck pack............I mean, their midrange line has tanked so badly these past few years

Congrats Samsung, this is the Choke of a Joke. For that price, I can get better phones with better specs at the same price.

And some blind Sammy boys are gonna defend and make excuses like "Because its a Samsung, they need advertising fees...blah blah blah".

Can we expect another The Daily Blah coming?

Holy shit, $500?? This is way too much. Samsung never freaking learns.

At $500, I'd rather get a G3 for $399.

Overpriced as usual and with the Hot SD615. Why can't manufacturers use an older processor instead. I bet SD800 and SD801 are similarly priced and they are much better processors. The 64 bit selling point seems to be useless so far. No one has seen the effect in real life usage and even in benchmarks. The only feature qualcomm's 64 bit chips seems to have is their heating "abilities"
