March 15th will bring Ice Cream Sandwich update for Samsung Galaxy S II in Israel
Samsung Mobile Israel is spreading the word that those in the country with the Samsung Galaxy S II should expect to receive the Android 4.0 update on March 15th. The actual statement, when roughly translated, reads,
We promised we were working on it. You waited patiently. And on 15 March it'll arrive: Android version 4, ICS, to tens of thousands of GALAXY S II devices purchased from cellular companies in the country or directly from us. We are very excited for the launch, hope you are too.

When will the Epic 4G Touch get ICS?

U.S. owners of the extremely popular Android model might have to wait a little longer as Samsung will need to conform each update for each carrier that the phone is sold through. Still, the March 15th date gives us a timeline of sorts, and does let those in the states know that the Korean based manufacturer is working on getting the update out to you.

If you had March 1st in the office pool, you obviously lost. But as you "make do" with the Gingerbread build of Android on this Sunday, the ICS  ROM's that have been leaked for the device are getting more stable, and that is good news. Add that to the news from Samsung Mobile Israel and it seems as though it won't be too long until the phone still considered the best Android model ever made will soon be rockin' the states with the latest build of Google's open source OS.

Included within the Israeli ICS is a self destruct system if a Syrian gets too close to the device...

Glad to see my Nexus S 4G is still not getting the update soon. The Nexus S 4G still classifies as a "Nexus" device right? Guess we Sprint users will sit and remain forgotten.

I'm assuming the lack of an update is backed by a Sprint decision. Having older models that run ICS before releasing new ICS models probably effects the new model's sales. Since people can have an updated OS at a cheaper price. Sprint you tire me of your neglect.

I wonder if 'official' ICS TouchWiz will look the same as the leaked roms - just like GB TouchWiz.
Anyway, already been using 4.0.3 on my SGSII for over a month. Why wait?
