Huawei Mate 9 is benchmarked by AnTuTu?

The Huawei Mate 8 was launched last December, carrying a 6-inch screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. The home grown Kirin 950 chipset was under the hood with an octa-core 2.3GHz CPU and the Mali-T880 GPU. The successor to that phone, the Huawei Mate 9, was apparently run through the AnTuTu benchmark test giving us a look at the handset's specs.

Earlier this year, analyst Pan Jiutang said that the Mate 9 could launch by the end of 2016. He added that the phone would feature dual 20MP cameras on the back (which did not show up on AnTuTu). He also said that the device would be powered by the new Kirin 960 chip, which would include an octa-core CPU made up of ARM's new Artemis cores, and support LTE Cat.12 speed.

According to AnTuTu, the Huawei Mate 9 will feature a 5.9-inch display with a 1080 x 1920 resolution. An octa-core 2.6GHz CPU is under the hood, along with the Mali-T880 GPU. 3GB of RAM is inside along with 64GB of native storage. On back is an 11MP camera, and a 7MP camera is found in front. Android 7.0 is pre-installed.

The camera specs make us suspicious about the whole thing, and considering that last year's Mate 8 came with 4GB of RAM, let's agree to take this with a grain of salt. Our best guess is that this could be a mid-range device being prepped by Huawei.
