Apple set to unveil the iPhone 5S on September 10th
We knew it was getting close, and we knew that Apple was likely to hold an event in early September in order to announce the new iPhone 5S and perhaps even a new iPad or two, but we didn't know exactly when it would be. Now, thanks to AllThingsD, it looks like we have a date to circle on the calendar.

According to sources for AllThingsD, Apple will hold an event on September 10th in order to announce the new iPhone 5S. The rumors make it sound like Apple will also be announcing the low-cost iPhone 5C, but that has not yet been confirmed, nor has it been confirmed that there will be any iPads at this event.

Apple has tended to keep the iPhone and iPad announcements separate, so it is probably more likely that we'll see the iPhone 5S, the new lineup of iPods, and perhaps the iPhone 5C, and not any new iPad mini or full-size iPad.

So maybe I skipped the leaks or something but I haven't heard the specs yet. One thing you can count on is a great gpu so I hope this is no different.

There will be an increase in CPU and GPU specs. RAM will probably be on the order of 2Mb to best run iOS7. Camera of the S will be 12Mp. IDK about OIS. Two-stage Xenon flash for improved low light pics. I doubt there will be stereo speakers. The rest of the iP5S will be about iOS7 working with the 'revolutionary' hardware.

That is about it.

2MB RAM!? Nice! Must run smoother than ever! :D

The 5 has 1Mb of RAM. Apple doesn't publish specs; however, one (or more) of the diagnostic sites ran a scan of the 5 and the RAM result was something around 900Kb, which is close enough to 1 Mb, after allowing for O/S overhead.

2 Mb would allow for a smooth operation of iOS7. Apple might cheap it out and hobble it with only 1 Mb and then add in 2 Mb for the 6 after howls of slow/laggy performance. The facts will come out soon enough.

Blame the spell checker. :-( And right after that, blame the PA edit time limit of 120 seconds.

Too many posts/threads to respond to.... No red underlines to draw my attention to inaccuracies, and, and, and. ;-)

The 120 second edit limit is a real nuisance. And what does it achieve for PA?

we dont need a beast like Note 3 to compete with cheap iphones. Asha (nokia) and mid-range Galaxy (samsung) will make sure the cheap iphones are done for breakfast.

The real question is, if this was a legit release date, the beats of ios7 would line up with it, I'm too lazy to do it my self but you get the idea

In what way will the new iPhone be a beast? Will it be more powerful than the LG G2? Will it be bigger than the Note III? They can only make it 1/2" taller so it will look even more out of proportion, now that will be one ugly beast.

Yeah. I am now wondering if Sammy will be releasing functions that take advantage of all that the S800 chip enables. Actually, I am glad that Apple is there to provide competitive pressure for Sammy to keep its game at A-level.

Release date for the Note III is almost 30 days away.... Yay!!!!

I'd really like to like the iPhone. The hardware is awesome. But the software is just not suitable for my needs.

iOS software may get closer to what Android offers. But it will never be equivalent. 'Cause then Apple would get slapped with an injunction for patent infringement.

To some Apple iFanboys here, who cares if the Samsung GS4 has the same price with that boring iPhone 5? Gosh. iPhone features that outdated Retina Display, 8mp Camera, And useless Siri. While Samsung GS4 aside from its super amoled HD display, it has a great screen, comes with such innovative and useful features, like smart pause, air touch and many more. God, these iFanboys has nothing to compare to Samsung aside from its Over pricing package. And for this post, i hope iPhone 5S will be able to compete to other flagship smart phones coz if not. Bye bye Apple. --Anyways loving my Samsung GS4!

I among lots of other ppl, even ppl that review phones for a living don't really find those features innovative. Considering they are no quicker than simply using your finger, which is what a *touch screen* is for, and they work only 50% of the time based on reviews and videos. They also caused lag initially and ate up most of the phones memory. I think the GS4 is a great phone no doubt, but it's nothing truly mind blowing, must have, greatest thing ever innovative. To be fair, there hasn't been much true innovation for a long time, they are simply running out of things that can be put on these phones. It would actually be quite interesting to know how many ppl actually use those features in everyday use.

Hehe, while everybody else is releasing top-of-the-line products this fall, Apple is releasing the same old already outdated-before-release iPhone 5s. Poor Apple fans who has to live with this junk until the end of 2014, well at least they get the new icons pack that comes with iOs 7.

Its not hard to understand that the usual iConsumer doesnt really care about the "SPECS"
of their phones. Look around you people. Every person that is holding a iDevice couldnt tell you the CPU specs or amount of ram if their life depended on it. With that stated, devices like the NOTE 3 will not "destroy" the iPhone 5S sales at all, whatsoever, in a million years.

The reason being is the Note 3 and other future High end Android devices is catering to a different consumer group. This group likes specs and big screens and cool pens and all that jazz. Will there be defectors from the iGang after their experience with the iPhone5? absolutely. But the myriad of iPhone users around the world still show that the company is staying strong. The iPeople will stand by their company through and through because "IT JUST WORKS"

I have successfully brought two of my relatives to Android after they have been using Iphone's 3 and 4 successively and honestly they couldn't be happier. Not all "ex-iUsers" feel the same though. Some people I know went from iPhone4 to the S4 and hate it.

My phone experience - I've owned Iphone 3GS, iPhone 5. Galaxy S1, Note 2 and now I am using a Made in China phone brand called THL until the new Note 3 is released.
