Acer to unveil four Windows 10 Mobile smartphones at IFA 2015?

While it's best known for its PCs rather than any other devices, Acer is no stranger to smartphones. Still, despite the fact that it's been releasing handsets for many years now, Acer is not what we'd call a relevant smartphone maker. We don't know if this will change in the foreseeable future, but we are hearing that the company could soon introduce no less than four new Windows-based smartphones.

According to Roland Quandt from German website WinFuture, Acer could announce the four new devices at IFA 2015 (4 - 9 September). Needless to say, we expect the handsets to be based on Windows 10 Mobile, since Microsoft will release the new version of the OS not long after IFA (possibly in November).

Unfortunately, there's no word on what features Acer's smartphones are expected to offer. The company's only Windows Phone 8 device, the Liquid M220, is a cheap, entry-level device, but we don't know if Acer wants to continue on this path, or if it plans to also offer more advanced handsets. Hopefully, it won't be long before we find out more about this.

Microsoft should also announce its own Windows 10 Mobile smartphones in the near future (including the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL). So, who's looking forward to seeing handsets based on the new version of Windows?
