My Galaxy Ace Style experience

jagkcline has owned it for less than month before publishing this review

Above average for a Mid-range phone. Better than expected. If you can do without the back LED and do not use alot of apps this phone works just fine. All in all a good phone for the price. Once someone figures out a way to root this device and you can add virtual ram to it. this device's only downfall would be the lack of a back LED.

Build quality
9.0
Slightly raised bezel arond screen, to help protect the screen. The back cover is made of plastic, to help with weight. All in all I found the build quality to be above par for a mid-range phone.
Reception
8.0
Between Att and Verizon as far as reception goes.
Call quality
7.0
Slightly above average.
Internet
6.0
Only is a 3g phone, but can be fast if you are in the right area. Quick on Wifi.
Multimedia
9.0
Default IE seems a little dated.
Camera
7.0
Clear pictures if in good lighting. Loses point for NOT having an LED flash. Biggest let down for this phone. Makes no sense.
UI speed
9.0
Snappy and responsive.
Everyday usage
8.0
More than enough to use as a phone, texting and internet browsing. Not good for heavy app use.
Text input
8.0
Small size = small onscreen keyboard.
Display
8.0
Display is clear and colorful.
Battery
9.0
Battery last on an average of about 10 hours between charges.

Pros

  • Good Price
  • Nice looking for a mid-range phone
  • Snappy and fast, if used correctly.

Cons

  • No back LED flash
  • No LED notifications
  • Only 880MB of ram and 600mb is used by the OS

Okay, but needs improvment and recalls and feature were forgotten

mrsunset25 has owned it for less than year before publishing this review

Upgraded from Galaxy proclaim. I gave up my auto brightness and now have to adjust it and worry with it which on my old phone, I never needed to mess with the brightness and I wish I knew why Samsung through this feature away, but was sure able to add the front camera. The proclaim had a light sensor appearing as a front camera, but wasn't and people got disappointed. Now the Ace Style has a front cam but no Auto brightness. What we can't have both? If I turn it all the way down, it's somewhat better on the battery and fine until I'm in the sun, then I turn it up and can see it but I later forget to turn it down and it devours the battery. Instead of having the four touch keys "Menu", "Home", "Back", and "Search", I now have a button for home which is okay, but another opening for moisture and dust to have access to inside of the phone and yet one extra cut out needed for screen protector not to mention, the screen protector is more likely to gather dirt and dust, where the button is. It also makes it more difficult to line up and install a screen protector. If you ever owned an iPhone, you are more likely used to this issue. The search key is missing, so I have to add the Google widget to the home screen instead. I like how they moved the Tracfone Logo to the back uper corner making it lower profile that you have a no contract service, which is worth the mid range price you pay for the phone and when you have a case, you never know it's there where most prepaid tracfones have...

Very poor vibrate notification. Might as well have not added the feature. Serves 2% purpose. Can only be felt in your hand. No illuminated keys for some reason. Just wait until you get into the dark with this phone. You are going to mess your old one. :(
Reception
5.0
Better Wifi reception. Not sure about 3G or service reception. 50/50 on that.
Call quality
5.0
Needs improvment on speaker. Bluetooth voice command and call quality is alittle glitchy. Voice command has a very hard time understanding you. Very hard to hear the person on your end through bluetooth.
Internet
6.0
Internet is okay but could use some improvment on browser. Maybe and Update would fix this. Keep in mind that you only get 3G data not 4G or 4G LTE. I feel that Verizon is very greedy with their 4G network and will not let Tracfone touch it without a pretty penny.

4GB of space is really good and you can say goodbye to having to move all of your apps and pictures to SD card to save space. However SD storage is good for phone backup. Some SD cards take forever to load on phone boot when scaning. Not gonna perform well with music and videos stored with 512MB of RAM. If you like to use your phone for music, expect some lagging with poor amount of random access memory.
Camera
6.0
No flash. bad bad bad. 5MP good for a phone. Keep in mind that phone cams can only virtually zoom and digital cameras have a mororized magnifying lense and physically zoom. This is probably 50% of the reason why cheap digital cameras are on the market today.

Good 1.2Ghz processor beats 1.0Ghz. Need to add some RAM. Need more then 512MB. People are complaining about lagging in gaming and social networking. This can easily be improved by making a phone with 1024MB of RAM which is non upgradible like a computer is. 90% Note: The SD card has no affect on this because the Ace Style* phone has 4GB of storage. Don't get storage and memory confused. Your phone is a computer that has permanent RAM basically. This is a hard specification awareness to come by

I was very disappointed in the keys not lighting up like the S4. How much does the led chip cost to be sodered to the board in china?

Great Screen space but vertically only got a 90% thumbs up.

Battery

Still 1500mah for a 4" screen and no auto brightness! None of this was considered. The S3/4 had a bigger capacity.

Pros

  • 4" screen vs 3.5"
  • 4GB Storage* (Not RAM)
  • 5MP Camera vs 3MP
  • Front facing camera
  • Attractive looking in the front
  • 1.2Ghz processor

Cons

  • Not the best battery life
  • Byebye auto brightness
  • Byebye illuminated key pad
  • No flash
  • No Color LED notification
  • Poor vibrating. Just when I thought it couldn't get worse. From surving it's purpose about 10% to this phone about 2% useful vibrate. if it goes off during class you professor won't even notice.
  • Speaker is very poor and low volume. I guess a portible speaker hooked up would work fine for music.
  • No search key
  • Still only 512MB RAM so don't expect the best out of your 1.2Ghz processor. So sad great processor too.
  • Bigger screen = More likely to crack. Think about it. The bigger they are, the harder they fall!
